Marietta-area Children in Need Receive Bikes and More Through Children’s Charity Bikes for Kids Program
Marietta, GA (March, 2018) – One hundred underprivileged youth from the Marietta area received big surprise on Saturday, March 17! As part of its Bikes For Kids program, Variety of Georgia – The Children’s Charity Variety the Children’s Charity of Georgia surprised seventy-seven children, including two children with special needs with bicycles during a Special Event at Studio Movie Grill. As part of its Bikes For Kids program, Variety of Georgia – The Children’s Charity presented seventy-five underprivileged youth from the Marietta area with brand new bicycles and helmets. Two children with special needs received an adaptive mobility bike during the surprise presentation to help overcome physical obstacles and provide therapeutic support.
The bike presentation followed a FREE movie screening of “Wrinkle in Time” with complementary popcorn and drink generously donated by Studio Movie Grill in Marietta. This event was a part of their Special Needs Screenings offered on one Saturday a month at 11AM. Studio Movie Grill offers movies free for Children with Special Needs and their siblings, with adult tickets available for before-noon price.
Through generous donations, Variety of Georgia, a non-profit dedicated to enriching, improving and fulfilling the lives of children living with disabilities and disadvantages, is able to keep the Bikes for Kids program alive. The initiative not only provides recreational, therapeutic and transportation opportunities for children in need, but it also offers them the freedom and independence to experience life. The Variety Freedom Program helps kids gain mobility, confidence, freedom and independence; it gives them the chance to join in the life of their community. Every child that we can give the gift of mobility is an investment in improving the future for everyone. Variety, through its Freedom Program regularly assists families in procuring durable medical equipment and services designed to increase access for a child with limited mobility to his or her community, as well as build his or her sense of independence, when the family cannot afford it and insurance denies aid.
