On December 30th of 2017, Variety the Children’s Charity of Georgia gifted six adaptive mobility bikes to children with special needs to help overcome physical obstacles and provide therapeutic support. The kids received their bikes at Variety’s Annual Santa Fun 5K at Newtown Park in Johns Creek.
The bike presentation preceded the annual Santa Fun Run 5K. Over a hundred people came to support Variety at the 5K. Much fun was had by all the participants and many even ran in our Holiday Santa suits. Many sponsors made this event possible. The Coca-Cola Company, The Max Challenge, Clif Bar, Goldfish Swim School, Andretti, Country Financial, and McDowell Chiropractic helped sponsor this fun Holiday event.
Through these generous donations, Variety of Georgia, can fulfill their mission dedicated to enriching, improving and fulfilling the lives of children living with disabilities and disadvantages. The Variety Freedom Program helps kids gain mobility, confidence, freedom and independence; it gives them the chance to join in the life of their community. Every child that we can give the gift of mobility is an investment in improving the future for everyone. Variety, through its Freedom Program regularly assists families in procuring durable medical equipment and services designed to increase access for a child with limited mobility to his or her community, as well as build his or her sense of independence, when the family cannot afford it and insurance denies aid.
